MODERATING STYLE
Dr. Gibney is well regarded for his moderating style, which is provocative, engaging, thorough, and in control, ensuring that all are heard from (focus groups) and that no one dominates discussion. He is listed as a “preferred moderator” with current clients, such as Merck & Co., Inc.

Beyond providing what would be expected of any good moderator, with a doctorate in psychology, Leo is able to take advantage of psychological techniques that go beyond standard interviewing and information gathering. Specifically, Dr. Gibney has employed projective techniques in a number of focus groups with various physician specialties and consumers as a means of delving deeper into how physicians and consumers think and feel. These techniques have been employed very successfully with a high level of client satisfaction. One example involves projective techniques used with psychiatrists on the topic of anti-depressants. The information gathered was used by an advertising agency in their successful bid for a contract with a major pharmaceutical company.
